Heatshrink tubing (also known as
heat shrink), a tubing which shrinks in diameter
when thermal heat is applied and should stay
within its set commercial and/or military
tolerances.
Some companies only test 10 per cent of stocks
held, this method could contain a Rogue
Batch providing you with errors in
production assembly.
Before we ship any heat shrink tubing, we do 100
percent testing for Horizontal (Longitudinally)
shrinkage, to make sure it works correctly when
in use, does your suppliers do the same. As the
internal diameter shrinks the wall thickness does
the opposite and starts to increase. Polyolefin
heat shrink tubing shrinks at +135°C,
so does adhesive lined heat shrink tubing, where
as PVDF or Kynar starts to shrink at and
PTFE/Teflon will begin to shrink at temperatures
greater than +327°C.
By using the correct temperature one avoids
burning the jacket sleeve. Heat shrink tubing is
used as a jointing insulation for solderings, can
also be used for low voltage, medium voltage and
high voltage busbar insulation, repairing wires,
on cable harnesses, military - defense
applications, wiring harnessing and general
tidying up products.
